Scholarship Winners 2019

Hotchkiss High School graduates (left to right) Jesus Macias and Carson Collins were each awarded $500 Town of Hotchkiss and Community Scholarships by Mayor Larry Wilkening at the March 14 Town Council meeting. The graduates are chosen for demonstrating community spirit and volunteerism within the community.

Jesus Macias volunteered with Hotchkiss Senior Citizens, the North Fork Children’s Christmas Party, St. Margaret Mary Church and many other volunteerism projects through Student Government. Macias loves the Town of Hotchkiss, has community pride and values that he will take with him throughout his life. He will major in the Premedical Field at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.

Carson Collins worked with students for the K-8 Knowledge Bowl and Pee-Wee Volleyball, with Paonia and Hotchkiss Senior Citizens, the Rotary Club, Lions Club, Delta County Fair, Bulldog Booster Club, BMW Breakfast, Black Canyon Animal Shelter, Hotchkiss Elks Club and Hotchkiss Beautification. Very community minded, Collins loves her Town of Hotchkiss, her school, her neighbors and friends. She will major in English with an emphasis in Pre-Law at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.

The Town started this scholarship six years ago to give back to our students that had volunteered their time within our community. The Town of Hotchkiss and Community wanted to show support for Hotchkiss High School and itsĀ  graduating students.
